My dream came true
I wanted to go to Mykonos since I first heard about this incredible island. So as I planned my next holiday with my colleague this island was one of the tops on my bucketlist.
We planned to go there for one whole week which was a little bit long to only explore the island but it was definately one of the most stunning places I have visited so far.

First day in Mykonos, Wednesday 4th October 2017
We arrived in Mykonos arround lunch time but we still were able to eat some breakfast which was just amazing. What else could you wish for to be welcommed in a hotel? I think in that moment I was already over the moon with the Mykonos Ammos Hotel. The hotel itself is modern decoraded and very good located. You have a direct entrence to the most beautiful beach the Ornos beach. Ornos is also only 30min walking away from Mykonos town and is therefore perfect located.
So we went to our room and made us ready to go to the Mykonos town. We were very excided and I was a little bit nervous as I had really high standards for it. But I was not disappointed at all.
The city itself is very beautiful and I love the little venice area. It does look so surreal so I cannot imagne to live there. Even it is just stunning. One of the most beautiful things are these flower trees which the town has but unfortunately there are not a lot of them as I hoped. So it has to be one of the first picture I took of Mykonos Town:
So we walked arround the city and tried to explore as much as possible. So we walked by a lot of different shops and we tried to enjoy every second of it.
So we walked arround a few hours and went also to the end of the city where you can see the sea. It was an amazing day and it was really hot. But as we came stright from Switzerland we were still in our pullovers and jeans. So it was a little bit hot but we totally forgot about it.
Afterwards we walked back into the middle of the city and just get lost in the little alleys of Mykonos.
After we have been walking arround a lot we made a stop by the restaurant Jimmy's to get a typical Souvlaki. And then we went back to our bus and drove back to the hotel in Ornos.
We decided to go for a early dinner in the restaurant called bowl. The food was really good even though it was not the same one as the famous one as someone has posted on instagram. The waiter told us that there was a photoshoot and they just taged their location even though the pictures were not made in this restaurant. Which sounded really strange. But yeah it just shows that you cannot trust instagram by everything.
The breakfast buffet is really nice. You have the choice between some egg variations, pancakes, yogurts, fruits, a little bit of meat, a lot of different kind of breads and some other delicious stuff. The restaurant also is faced the sea and when it is not that windy they also keep the blinds open so you can feel the sun directly on your skin while eating breakfast. Which I think is one of the most beautiful combinations ever.
After we had finished breakfast we went back to our room to make ourself ready to go to Mykonos town again. Our hotel was arround 10-15min away from Mykonos by bus which relates that the bus has to do a big round first arround the hotels before it drives to Mykonos twon. Otherwise Ornos is arround 5min away. So the way to the city isn't bad. I am also a person who likes driving arround and seeing a little bit of the island. It was also a good way to plan where we want to explore the island a litte bit more.
As we arrived in Mykonos our main target was to make a lot of pictures. We both were very interested in making pictures so we were a really good team.
For lunch we went into the Souvlaki Story where we tried out some typical Gyros. Unforunately the food was totaly different then outside of the city. Outside of the city the portions were much bigger and also better and of course still cheaper. But for a little break it is totally fine and the food there is still only arround £6.
If I had more time in Mykonos I would definately go and eat in the restaurant below. I do not know the name of it but it is very beautiful. And yeah if a restaurant look good I want to eat there.
Afterwards we wanted to walk up to the Boni windmill to have a look above Mykonos. I am the kinda person who always takes a look where you can find a really nice spot from above. As you can do always amazing pictures of the city when you are on a higher place.
Afterwards we walked a little bit arround and searched also other nice places so we could took some pictures.
Have I already mentioned how many cats there are in Mykonos? I can promise there are a lot!
And I am a big fan of cats and animals in general. So I wanted to take every single cat with me.
After we had been walking a lot we wanted to go somewhere for a refreshing drink. So we went to the restaurant and bar called Veranda Mykonos from which you have an amazing view to the windmills of Mykonos.
On Thursday there were almost no people arround and therefore we wanted also to do a picture of us two as a memory. And of course we had to do one under the flower tree.
As the sun went slowly down we walked along the sea to make some pictures at the beach. I think you can make some of the most amazing pictures when it is golden hour.
We walked arround until the sun went completely down. Then we decide to drive back to our hotel.
In the hotel we made ourself ready for dinner and then went to the restaurant next to our hotel which was a typical greek restaurant called grillhous lefteris. The restaurant was really good but we did the mistake and ordered a lot and the portions are really big. So if you are planing to go there keep this in mind.
So after we took some pictures we walked back up to the street and walked along it to the little church.
We then walked along the cliffs to take some pictures as I think they are very beautiful.
After we have seen the most of this part of the island we went back to our hotel to make ourself ready for the evening. As we wanted to go to the city and watch the sunset there from the windmills.
As it was friday evening there were a lot of people on the bus on their way to Mykonos town. So we walked through a alley which was not that crowded. We also found there a beautiful spot for some pictures.
After the sunset we searched for a restaurant and randomly landed back next to the flower tree of the restaurant Pepper Mykonos.
We eat and talked a lot till we both wanted to go back to our hotel.
So as we got there we went straight to this frozen yogurt place called Happyyo. And after the walk we kinda deserved some frozen yogurt.
After the frozen yogurt we walked arround in the city again and tried to explore the last part of Mykonos city which we haven't seen before. We also went into a lot of different little shops.
My absolutely favorit shop was the Sparkling Wishes which had this amazing entry:
So we walked arround for some time and took a lot of pictures and both some souvenirs for our family. You can find everywhere little shops and most of them sale the same things. So I would suggest you to find the one which sells them for less. Because the prices are often not the same or you pay sometimes for the packaging a little bit more.
For lunch we went to the Niko's Taverna where you can eat some amazing seafood. I am not the biggest seafood fan but I like to have sometimes some shrimps.
After the lunch we walked arround the city for a bit until it got colder so we drove back to the hotel.
We did a little break and stayed for some time in our room and contacted our family and friends.
Later on we wanted to go to the beach for the sunset. Also we wanted to walk arround the bay to may find a nice spot to eat.
So we eat dinner at the hotel Apaggio which has this amazing restaurant at the sea with those amazing lights. The food there is amazing and I can really suggest you to go there for a nice sunset dinner spot.
In the city we took our time and we went to the Trio Bambini for some ice cream. Afterwards we walked arround went into some shops and enjoyed the beautiful day.
Unfortunately it went really cold in the afternoon and we did not staid to long in the city. So we went back to the hotel and watched some videos and talked a lot. For dinner we went to the restaurant Farina which is right next to the Mykonos Ammos Hotel. The food in the restaurant is really good and they also have some very cheap options which are also amazing. Therefore if you do not want to spent a lot of money this place is a very good choice.
After dinner we went back and made ourself ready for bed.
On our second last full day in Mykonos we went again to the beach to get some sun. But we both are not the tanning kinda persons so it did not went long that we wanted to do something else. So we decide to explore the island a little bit more.
We walked along the street until we saw this hill where you could walk down to a little spot on the sea. So we walked down and were really suprised as it was a very beautiful spot. It is a very beautiful place and the water there was soo clear so we knew that we definately had to come back to it.
We staid there for some time and went than back to the hotel to made ourself ready to go to Mykonos town again.
I totaly wanted to have a picture with Valeria and i cream in front of a beautiful typical Mykonos spot. So we went to Trio Bambini again and took some pictures which turned out to be some of my favorit ones of the whole trip.
We also had planned to go to the 180° Sunset Bar where you will have the most amazing view of Mykonos. And it is definately the most stunning place of the island. Also they have some amazing drinks so I can higly recommand to go there.
We staid until the sun was completely hidden and the sky went slowly dark. So we walked back down to the city to go back to our hotel.
For dinner we went to the Porto Ornos Taverna to eat some typical greek food again. Which is an amazing place to try out some dishes of greece. We ordered some Tzatziki sauce and Pita bread and some Gyros and Souvlaki.
The tour with the tour guide went arround 2 hours afterwards you are free to explore the island a little bit by yourself. We had Alexandra as our tourguide and she was really funny and a very nice person! So if you will go there and you will have her as your tourguide you will be lucky.
So after the tour we walked arround took a lot of pictures of the island. The backgrounds are amazing and I had totally the Game of Thrones feelings going on while walking there between those funds.
So one of the most important thing is to put sunscreen on while you are there. Because will have to stay arround 3 hours in the sun without a lot of change for shadows. Valeria and I both had a little bit of a sunburn going on after the tour.
As we headed back to Mykonos with the boat we were very hungry and went to the restaurant Gyros Corner - O Pondos for some Gyros.
And for dessert we went across the restaurant to the Crepaland Mykonos to have some creps and waffels. Which I can totally recommand if you are a fan of sweets.
Afterwards we wanted to go back to our spot in Ornos to watch the sunset there. Yes, I think you can say that we have done a lot of romantic excursions to see the sunset haha. So we went there and took some pictures until the sun went down behind the hills.
So we went back to our hotel and made ourself ready for dinner again. For our last night we wanted to go to this special steakhous called Wolves of Kitchen arround the corner which seems to be very nice. As we went there we were totaly suprised as the restaurant was very beautiful and the menu was amazing. It was really hard to decide which food we should take as every sounded amazing.
Unfortunately we were not that hungry so we did not took the t-bone steaks. We went for the classic burger and some dishes which was amazing and the perfect last meal for our journey.
I can highly recommand this place if you are near Ornos or even if you are far away. The restaurant would be worth it to go there, definately.
After our last dinner in Mykonos we went back to our hotel room and talked into the night.
It was a really relaxed holiday and I could not wish for more! I am totaly in love with Mykonos and would love to go back there some day. I am now also very interested to explore all of the greece islands. So I have a lot to plan for the next few years.

Even though Mykonos is a really hyped holiday destination I was a bit nervous that I will not look like on the pictures. But as we arrived there it was clear that it definately does.The city itself is very beautiful and I love the little venice area. It does look so surreal so I cannot imagne to live there. Second day in Mykonos, Thursday 05th October 2017
We tried to wake up every morning arround 9ish so we could still make the most of our day but also keep a little bit of sleep ins to have these nice holiday feelings. I am the kind of person who'd like to sleep in a little bit but after 10:30 o'clock I feel bad. So this was totaly fine for me. As every morning we putt some comfy clothets on and went to the breakfast.The breakfast buffet is really nice. Boni's Windmill
So we walked all the way up to the Bon'is Windmill which is definately worth it. It is not a long walk and from up you can see every single house and of course the sea with the massiv ships. Which do look so surreal. By the time we went up it also got a lot hotter so it almost felt like summer.
Afterwards we walked a little bit arround and searched also other nice places so we could took some pictures.

Third day in Mykonos, Friday 6th Ocotber 2017
On our third day we decide that we wanted to explore the island a little bit more. Therefore we took the bus and stopped a few stops before Mykonos town at the Agios ioannis beach. We walked down to the beach and walked a little bit arround. We realized soon that we had to walk along the street to get to the little church which you can see in the background of the picture below:So after we took some pictures we walked back up to the street and walked along it to the little church.
We then walked along the cliffs to take some pictures as I think they are very beautiful.
After we have seen the most of this part of the island we went back to our hotel to make ourself ready for the evening. As we wanted to go to the city and watch the sunset there from the windmills.

So as we arrived at the windmills there were a lot of peoples but we still managed to take some amazing shots. Fourth day in Mykonos, Saturday 7th October 2017
In the morning of our fourth day we took some time and enjoyed our breakfast. Afterwards we got ready to walk to Mykonos town. As the city was only arround 30min aways we wanted to walk there. So we walked up the main street and it was not as bad as I thought. I am the kind of person who do not really mind to walk as I am always searching for the perfect spots and while walking I can find them even more. But it was definately hot when we walked to the city.So as we got there we went straight to this frozen yogurt place called Happyyo. And after the walk we kinda deserved some frozen yogurt.

Fifth day in Mykonos, Sunday 8th October 2017

So we decide to go back to the town but we wanted to walk there but along the beach. Seventh Day in Mykonos, Tuesday 10th October 2017
For our last full day we had booked the Delos Tour to the Delos island. So we had a transfer which picked us up by the hotel arround 10:00 o'clock and drive us near the Old Port of Mykonos. There we took the Delos Tour boat to get to the Delos island.Delos Tour
I was always really interested in the mythology of Greece. The stories about the gods and godesses was always one of my favorit ones to hear about. As the Delos island is a very important part of it. I totaly wanted to go there. As Delos was the birht place of the god Apollon and a metropol in the past it was very interesting to hear some information regarding the funds the archeologist have found.The tour with the tour guide went arround 2 hours afterwards you are free to explore the island a little bit by yourself. We had Alexandra as our tourguide and she was really funny and a very nice person! So if you will go there and you will have her as your tourguide you will be lucky.
