So we planed to go to Jamaica and we found an amazing offer from Tui to visite this very special country. Both of us did not really know someone who went to this country so it was a really exciting trip to plan.
So on the 8th September we started our trip which was at the very sad time where the hurrikan "Irma" was arround the atlantic. It was a very scarful time and we also were afraid that we could not even go to our dream holiday destination. But our flight went on time and with a short delay of one our we arrived in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
After the 12 hour flight we were pretty exhaused and therefore we just wanted to go to our hotel. From the airport we had 1.5h drive with the transfer to Negril. The sky was already dark when we arrived at the Royalton Negril Resort & Spa hotel. We were very tried and only wanted to eat something as we both were not a fan of the airplane food. So it was time for the foodies to get a proper breakfast/lunch/dinner. We went to the restaurant of the hotel which was called Gourmet Marche / International Cuisine. This restaurant is a big buffet where you can a little bit of everything. So this restaurant was definately my favorit one. After we have eaten we went back to our room which was a Luxury Junior Suite and took a long shower and went for sleeping afterwards.
First day in Jamaica, Sat. 09th September 2017
I think in the morning when I woked up I finally started to feel the holidays feelings and I was getting totaly excided for the day. As we walked outside we also could take a look at the hotel by day light. The Royalton Negril Resort & Spa is an amazing hotel which has different restaurants, a bar, 2 adult pools, more than one way to the beach, a little club etc. So it has everything what your heart could ask for.
We had booked a tour to go to the YS Falls via Viator and I will never book with this company again. Viator did not inform us that the tour has been cancelled because of the weather conditions and we only found out because we asked the reception how the pick up service will work. They cancelled the tour afterwards again and at the third time they confirmed the wrong time so our taxi driver was not happy as well.. so yes, definately will not book with them ever again. While the tour was cancelled we searched for an alternative instead of the YS Fall tour and decide to walk arround our neighborhood and explore the town by ourselves. But we noticed that it was not a good idea and that there was not much arround our hotel we could go checking out. So we took a taxi and drove to the Blue Hole Mineral Spring.
Blue Hole Mineral Spring
The Blue Hole Mineral Spring is an amazing place. Unfortunately it is far away and I would suggest to go with a taxi from a hotel there. The taxi drivers which try to pick you up on the street do often not have a licence and try to charge you a lot more money for the ride. We did the mistake once and we paid almost 3 time as expensive as it normal would be. But the taxi driver was very friendly and drove us through the jungle to the Blue Hole.The Blue Hole Mineral Spring is not a big one and you cannot do much there itself so I would keep that in mind if you plan to go there.
The water of the Blue Hole has a lot of minerals and is therefore very good for your skin and nails. The crew who works there are jung and crazy people. They run arround and do amazing jumps into the Blue Hole. They act like monkeys and climing up the trees to only jump into the hole to impress the tourists.
The personal also showed us the hotel and the view they had over the whole jungle which was really impressive:
After we spend a few hours in this hole we wanted to go back and walk a little bit arround Negril city. The taxi driver drove us there and also suggested us to walk back to the hotel by the sea so we could see a little bit more of Jamaica.
Negril
Negril city was honestly not worth seeing but I also have to say that it was not that enjoyable because my friend and I are both young girls and there were a lot of men who could not resist to flirt while we walked through the city. It was intense and so we could not really enjoy the city by itself. So we did not stay long and decide to walk back to the hotel by the sea.
Seven Mile Beach
So we walked the whole way from Negril city to the Royalton Negril Resort & Spa hotel. Which meant that we walked along the whole Seven Mile Beach which we did not noice until later on. The famous beach itself was not the most stunning beach I have seen in my life so therefore the reputation of it is not really justified. Still though it was a beautiful beach and we have seen just every little part of it.
So our first day in Jamaica was pretty ruff. And when we finally arrived at our hotel we were exhaused. After our long walk we went to the beach of our hotel just to lay down and trying to enjoy that time the beach.
We did not stay long as it it suddenly started to rain so we went back to our room to get ready for dinner.
When I know look back at the pictures it looks also like it would start raining soon. Yeah, but we were very tried and did not notice until it was to late.
We went again to the Gourmet Marche / International Cuisine for dinner and it was really amazing.
Second day in Jamaica, Sun. 10th September 2017
On sunday we decide to sleep in and have a relaxed day. Also our feet hurted because of the long beach walk we did the day before. So for breakfast we went again to the Gourmet Marche / International Cuisine which we started to do every morning. They had everything what your heart could wish for. Afterwards we went to the hotels tourguides Nexus which offered a lot of different tours for the hotel guests. The service of Nexus is amazing they were just a lifesaver! We were very interested and booked a tour on the afternoon to go to the Rick's Cafe (see the live cam via the link!).Rick's Cafe
The Rick's Cafe is an amazing place to go for some drinks. It is a bar and a restaurant arround some amazing looking cliffs. When it is good weather you also can go there for cliff diving and swiming. In the picture below you can see the springboard which you also can use:
When we went it was a little bit to stormy for swiming and cliff diving would be to dangerous. But still it was an amazing place to eat and have some drinks. The cafe also has some life music and I have to say that some of the Jamaican can just dance amazingly. It was really interesting to watch them perform and also battle. We also wanted to try out some typical Jamaican drinks like the fruit punsh with rum which was called Rick's world famous rum punch and also we tried out the Banana Bread.
But you defintely have to stay until the sun is completely gone. As you might miss otherwise one of the most stunning sunsets views.
We staid there until the sun went fully down. And than a funny little bus came to pick us up and drove us back to our hotel.
And of course we went back to our favorit restaurant in the hotel the Gourmet Marche / International Cuisine.
Third day in Jamaica, Mon. 11th September 2017
For monday we booked through Getyourguide our highlight tour the horse back riding at Sandy bay in Montego Bay. We were very excided but I have to say at the end of the day we were a little bit disappointed in the tour. But the personal at chukka was very friendly and the service of Getyourguide also was perfect and therefore I can highly recommand them.

My best friend and I met when we both did horse back riding in the past. So we almost had to do it.
The ranch itself is amazing and has over 130 different horses. As horse lover it was definately beautiful to go horse back riding in the forest. But as there are a lot of people you cannot really ride by yourself as everyone has to be in one line for safety reasons. So if you are a good horse back rider it is may a little bit borring for you. It was also a little bit unlucky as there were arround 30 - 40 participants so there were not enough guides so I did not really hear anything regarding the history of Jamaica. The ride through the forest was the most beautiful part of the tour. As the background was always very stunning and it was a totaly different feeling as back home.
The swiming part was unfortunately not really good. It was so short that it was almost unnecessary to do it. We swam arround 2 minutes as the horses could not swim longer and than we had to go back and change for the next group to go swiming with the horses. Often it had to be the same horses which was almost to much for them and did not really look as they would have fun doing it over and over again.

It was very sad as we imagine that the swiming part would also include to ride at the beach and go into the water with the horses and not only swim a little circle.
We did all the pictures by ourself so we had some memories of the horse back riding. Of course you are able to buy pictures there which they took but we did not need them as we had enough as you could see above.
We also met there this incredible cute puppy of the whole trip. He stole everyones heart.
Afterwards we drove back to the hotel and decide to go to the Seven Mile Beach. At this time we did not know that we have alread been there. And also when we asked people about it and where it is people did not say it to us. Even though we said that we have been walking from Negril to the Royalton. So we ordered a taxi for $5.00 and went to the Seven Mile Beach again to watch the sunset.
After the sun went down we called our taxi driver to pick us up and to drive us back to the hotel.
At the hotel we decide to go into a new restaurant the Hunter Steakhouse. The food was amazing! I went for the entrecôte and I can definately suggest you also to try this one out.
As the tour bus already had left we had to book a privat taxi and paid arround $10.00 more to get to the Mayfield Falls.
Our taxi driver was very nice and drove us on the way home to this corn seller and brought us a corn to try. And it was definately one of the best corns I had so far.
As we camed back from our amazing tour we went to the typical jamaican restaurant of the hotel which was called Calypso. The food there was also amazing and as we walked back to our room. There was a show going on in the middle of the hotel. It was like a theater where the actors showed the traditions of Jamaica. They also showed the typical dance and the original inhabitants traditions. As the original inhabitants where from Africa they also showed the typical dance of them. It was very interesting to watch.
After the show we went back to our room and went to bed.
On our fith day we finally should have our YS Fall tour on 9:00 as confrimed by viator via Mail. But as we came back form the breakfast our taxi driver already had wait an half an hour. Which was really frustrating as we also confirmed the time 3 times but it still was not the correct one. Yeah so I definately will never book via them again.
The taxi driver was called Kevin and he was amazing. He drove us to the falls and explained us a lot about the jamaican culture. He also showed us where he'd like to buy food like pepper shrimps and curries. I was really suprised as he told me that in jamaica there were a lot of indian people and Kevin was half Jamaican and half Indian. He told us that jamaican do not eat spicy food but because of the indian people there are some spicy dishes in jamaican and he love them. So he promsied us to go at his favorit place on the way back to the hotel so we can try out some typical jamaican food.
As we arrived we went to the changing rooms to put on our bikinis and then we went up to the waterfalls. We had a tourguide as well who helped us to climb up and go to the waterfalls.
We also were able to jump down the waterfalls and swining arround with a liane. Which was one of the most funny things we have done in this trip. The people arround us where also very fascinated as we tried out some pole tricks.
After we had enough of the waterfalls we walked back to the start as the YS Fall tour also offers some amazing natural pools where you are able to swim. So we walked back through the jungle to the pools. On the picture below you can see the stunning tree which I was totally into.
So on our way back Kevin kept his promise and we went to this little restaurant which should have amazing jerk pork and jerk chicken. They also selled curries and pepper chicken. So we tried out the jerk chicken and it was really good. I may not the biggest fan of bones in my food so that was not really enjoyable but I guess you have to try it at least and give it a go.
In the picture below you can see our taxi driver Kevin and the restaurant owner. She is also a lovely person and let us try out the pepper shrimps as well which were almost my faves!
As we camed back to our hotel we went down to the pool and just enjoyed the sun for a little bit. And in the evening we tried out the asian restaurant of the hotel which is called Zen. In the restaurant Zen you have entertainer which cook your food and sing the whole evening. And we did not know that so we were really suprised as the chef began sining. It was really funny but I just was also very tried because of the day so therefore it was almost a little bit to much for my taste. But the dinner was amazing and we had an enjoyable night.
So we decide to stay at the hotel for the last day and enjoying the sea and the featurings of the hotel. So we went snorkeling by ourselves but we did not see much as of the hurrican the water was not really clear. We also went kayaking and just tried to enjoy our last day as much as possible.
We also lied at the beach and just relaxed.
We had a really relaxed day and as it went dark we went for dinner. So we went again to our favorit place the Gourmet Marche / International Cuisine to enjoy the last dinner in Jamaica.
So unfortunately our holiday ended and we were very sad to leave. It would have been amazing to stay a little bit longer and explore the island a little bit more. I would love to go back to also explore more of the east side of the island. I can higly recommand Jamaica as a holiday destination. The people there are amazing and I think I never have met such tourist friendly persons in a forgeign country. Also the island is very interesting because of the totaly different culture. I am also a big fan of jungles so I fell totally in love with the YS Fall tour.

Fourth day in Jamaica, Tue. 12th September 2017
On tuesday we firstly had planed to go to the YS Falls but Viator disappointed us again. And we had to plan again another tour. Unfortunately they did not say anything so we missed a lot of the tours already as we find out that the YS Falls was cancelled again. So we talked to the Nexus team who helped us to find a good solution. So they suggested us to go to the Mayfield Falls to climb up the falls.

So we waited there and than drove through some beautiful fields with a lot of horses. Sixth day in Jamaica, Thu. 14th September 2017
On our last day we wanted to go snorkeling but unfortunately they were to less people so the tour did not take place this day. We also thought long about to go on another tour but we thought that we have done enough and also we did not want to spent a lot more money neither.So we decide to stay at the hotel for the last day and enjoying the sea and the featurings of the hotel. So we went snorkeling by ourselves but we did not see much as of the hurrican the water was not really clear. We also went kayaking and just tried to enjoy our last day as much as possible.

On friday it was our last day in Jamaica so we only had the morning because at lunch time we had to leave for our airplane. So we tried again to enjoy it as much as possible. So went for breakfast and eate as much and long as possible and afterwards we went back to the beach.So unfortunately our holiday ended and we were very sad to leave. It would have been amazing to stay a little bit longer and explore the island a little bit more. I would love to go back to also explore more of the east side of the island. I can higly recommand Jamaica as a holiday destination. The people there are amazing and I think I never have met such tourist friendly persons in a forgeign country. Also the island is very interesting because of the totaly different culture. I am also a big fan of jungles so I fell totally in love with the YS Fall tour.
